[Update: 27. August 2009] I’ll be rewriting this page soon. If I have not done so in the next week, feel free to remind me.
Hi! My name is Chris Haueter. I am glad you stopped my my personal blog. This website is the place where I go to share my thoughts with friends, family, and anyone else who is interested.
Why don’t I give you some background on myself?
My father was an Air Force officer, so my family moved regularly as I was growing up. We lived in Arkansas, Germany, North Carolina, Virginia, and Colorado. (My Dad has now retired and they are settling in Missouri). I spent two years as a missionary in Ukraine, speaking Russian. Although I have only been home from Ukraine for one year, I believe I will continue to appreciate that experience as I grow older, looking back fondly at the wonderful experiences I had there and friends whose lives the Lord blessed through my companions and me.
That brings me to the present.
Now I am an undergraduate student at Columbia University in New York City. Although I haven’t yet declared a major, I am about 75% confident, that it will be computer science. My parents bought their first computer when I was in second grade, and since then it has always been my primary hobby. I first paid for my own computer in seventh grade. I like to think that I am interested in programming, web development, learning, and communication. What is most fascinating is learning on the Internet.
This is a period in my life of shifting interests. The things that once consumed my attention are no longer attractive. Although I work hard enough in my classes and do well, I am not passionate about my studies here at Columbia. I am becoming increasingly disinterested in high-minded intellectualism; too much talk, too little action. Business and entrepreneurship are increasingly becoming the focii of my research and “edutainment.”
I am in an exciting period of my life. I share this blog with you in hope that you will understand me better. More importantly, though, I hope that you can benefit from what you find here.
I like what I see. Keep it up!
